| Chapter Focus |
| The Huntsville Chapter is beginning it's 8th year this April and our membership has stabalized at 315 members. Our quaterly luncheons continue to provide well attended forums for government and industry partners to network and exchange ideas freely. Last January, our Board of Directors decided to focus on Cyber topics and events. Our first event was a Classified Cyber Threat Luncheon/Panel hosted by the Army Software Engineering Directorate at Redstone Arsenal. It was held in a secure room/skif where actual threat topics and scenarios were discussed. For the second year, we held a joint luncheon with the Air Force Association and NDIA local chapters were our speaker was Major General Robert Elder who was instrumental in establishing the USAF Cyberspace mission area. We also undertook a significant upgrade to our chapter website:rocketcityafcea.org with the help of Star Chapter a professional website development company. On October 15th, the Chapter signed a MOA with Cyber Huntsville an organization sponsored by the Mayor's office to establish Huntsville as a Cyber Center of Excellence. We co-chair a working group whose focus is the planning and execution of an annual Cyber Symposium in June of each year. Due to the generosity of the CEO of Centech Group, Inc. we were able to start an ambitious four-month scholarship fund drive. Our goal is to provide four $5,000 scholarship grants in CY 2013. Finally, General Via the Commander of Army Material Command is a life-long AFCEA member and he is supportive of our chapter goals. |
