Happy New Year! One of our goals for the new year is to engage more with our corporate members. This is the first edition of the AFCEA Corporate Member newsletter designed to help keep you informed of activities and services relevant to you.

I am honored to join the AFCEA team as the Vice President, Industry Programs.  The new Industry department name reflects the importance of our Industry members. The department expansion includes corporate membership programs and small business under Director Julie Lama and staff Barbara Norkus and Dawn Falsinotti. Senior Director Gina McGovern and Theresa Fox will manage Corporate Sponsor Programs. Senior Director Tobey Jackson and Somer Miller will continue to manage Marketing and Public Relations.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or anyone on the Industry staff with questions, ideas or concerns.  We wish you the very best in 2013 and I look forward to meeting you at an upcoming AFCEA event.

Trivia: Which Company has been an AFCEA Corporate Member the longest?

General Dynamics has been a corporate member of AFCEA since July 31, 1946! General Dynamics is followed by fellow member BAE Systems who joined November 1, 1948, and then Lockheed Martin Corporation who joined April 5, 1960. Congratulations and thank you for your support!


SPAWAR’s Three-Year Acquisition Forecast

SPAWAR has posted an updated 3- year acquisition forecast to its public web portal entitled "SPAWAR 3 Year Acquisition Forecast (11-2012)" at http://www.public.navy.mil/spawar/Pages/SmallBusiness.aspx.

This forecast includes opportunities for SPAWAR Headquarters, SPAWAR System Centers Atlantic and Pacific.  The forecast is informational only and does not constitute an offer or commitment by the Navy to fund, in whole or part, the opportunities herein. Vendors shall not contact any contracting or technical personnel regarding this information and all inquiries shall be submitted via email to SPAWARSBO@navy.mil.


New Procedures for Intelligence System Acquisition

The Director of National Intelligence issued a directive last month prescribing procedures for major system acquisitions by elements of the intelligence community. The directive defines a multi-phase process for identifying critical needs, evaluating alternative paths to meet those needs, and so forth. Small Business Holiday Networking Reception a Success!

Thanks to our small business members who attended this year’s Small Business Holiday Networking Reception at the Fair Oaks Marriott.  Our goal was 200 attendees, including government and industry, and we are excited to report that we had well over 200 people join us for the event. Now Hiring: AFCEA Corporate Membership Coordinator

The Corporate Membership Coordinator will be a member of the Corporate Member Programs team, identifying prospective corporate members and assisting in developing a Corporate Membership Engagement Strategy. The position also involves conducting research on issues relevant to AFCEA’s mission and committees, liaising with other AFCEA committees, and assisting in drafting white papers and talking points for senior AFCEA staff. The candidate will assist in developing marketing materials and presentations to promote AFCEA Corporate Memberships and to educate new members and will also conduct research on issues relevant to corporate members to expand and strengthen current memberships.  Applicants may send resumes to Nancy Temple, ntemple@afcea.org by COB January 11.
