AFCEA Intelligence Committee Private Sector Membership Application

The AFCEA Intelligence Committee consists of approximately 60 public and private sector intelligence professionals who oversee AFCEA International’s outreach to the Intelligence Community. The Committee is considered by many to be the premier public/private intelligence networking forum. The application period is April 15 - July 31 of each year.

Duty Description

An AFCEA Intelligence Committee member:

  • Desires to serve the Intelligence Community and help strengthen national securityCommits time and energy in support of Committee activitiesParticipates in monthly meetings, generally held at AFCEA International headquarters in Fairfax, VA.
  • Helps develop intelligence strategy and implementation plans for AFCEA Intelligence programs and outreach.
  • Helps develop and execute AFCEA Intelligence events.
  • Serves for a fixed term of four years and may be reelected for a second four-year term
  • Serves as a volunteer and is not compensated financially

Requirements

To be considered for membership through the annual election process, a candidate must:

  • Work in the private sector (i.e., does not work for any federal, state, or local agency or organization, including the Department of Defense. Government liaison members to the Committee are appointed by their parent organizations through a separate process.)
  • Be a citizen of the United States. Possess an active TOP SECRET clearance with SI/TK accesses
  • Be a member of AFCEA International. (Note: A candidate need not be an AFCEA member to apply for membership on the AFCEA Intelligence Committee, but if elected would be required to join the Association either on an individual basis ($35 per year) or through a corporate membership.)

Selection Criteria

Candidates are selected on the basis of personal qualifications and not because of company affiliation. Once selected, an individual holds a personal seat and not a company seat. Candidates are primarily assessed on their current or past involvement with intelligence in one or both of the following roles as an:

  • Employee of a company or entity that furnishes products or services to an Intelligence Community organization, with direct involvement in their provision and knowledge of their uses
  • Employee of, or contractor for, a company or entity that has a substantial and ongoing need for Intelligence Community products, with direct involvement in the use of those products
