Spring Symposium to Focus on Intelligence Transition
During the AFCEA Spring Intelligence Symposium (April 22-23, 2009), attendees will learn about budget implications and priorities for the Intelligence Community (IC) under the new Administration, the views of current and past IC agency leaders, the Hill perspective, likely changes in military intelligence, and the impact of all this for the public/private partnership. Unfortunately, the event has sold-out, but there is a wait list. Putting your name on the list could get you in this year, and it definitely will give you advance notice for future events.

Intelligence and Critical Infrastructure Protection White Paper
Providing support to the critical infrastructure mission has become an important priority for the U.S. Intelligence Community. Criticisms leveled against the Intelligence Community following 9/11 included concerns about the manner and extent to which foreign intelligence could be used to protect the homeland. In addition, the national debate about information and intelligence sharing now has been extended to include threats to the nation's critical infrastructure. The latest white paper from the government and industry members of the AFCEA Intelligence Committee focuses on this key topic.

Launching Stealth Warfare
The next “shot heard ’round the world” may turn out to be the surreptitious movement of millions of bits and bytes careening through cyberspace. Suspicions already surround the cyberactivity that took place in the weeks before Russia launched a conventional military attack against Georgia last year. And in May 2007, the removal of a bronze statue of a World-War-II-era Soviet soldier from a park in Estonia resulted not in riots in the streets but rather in what has been described as the first war in cyberspace.
