Col. Dan Johnson, USAF, commander, 480th Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) Wing, Langley Air Force Base, Virginia, directs the worldwide operations of five ISR groups that support five numbered Air Force commanders. Col. Johnson is responsible for more than 4,000 personnel and a total enterprise that is valued at more than $5 billion. Serving as the guest speaker for the September meeting, the colonel provided an overview of the ISR mission and the role communications and information play in supporting it. He noted that the exploitation and dissemination of time-sensitive ISR information would be not be possible without the collaborative relationship between the communications and information communities.
