Presentation Covers Systems Security

In March, the chapter partnered with the Italian Defense Command, Control, Communications and Computers (C4) Command to host a presentation with Araknos, an Italian company specializing in information technology systems security. Brig. Gen. Maurizio Leoni, IA, commander, C4 Command, introduced the event. He briefed attendees on the chapter's history and structure on behalf of the chapter president, Lt. Gen. Pietro Finocchio, ITAF, who could not attend. Araknos Chief Executive Officer Maurizio Dal Re gave a report on the history of information technology security, the company's capabilities and products, which he said implement proactive safety management with complete control of the infrastructure. Its core business is Akab, a modular and scalable security information event management system with extended capabilities. Col. Enrico Righetti, ITAF, C4 Command, spoke on the applications of Akab to information network security. Other speakers from both the Italian defense sector and Araknos spoke, and attendees watched a simulation of an attack on a system protected by Akab.
