Annual Meeting Features Board Elections

In December, the chapter held its annual general meeting in the auditorium of the Scuola delle Trasmissioni e Informatica (SCUTI), the Italian Ministry of Defense telecommunication and information technology school. Lt. Gen. Pietro Finocchio, ITAF (Ret.), outgoing chapter president, gave the introductory speech reporting the final balance of the chapter's activities for 2011 and outlining the main targets for the year to come. Subsequently, Gen. Finocchio followed chapter protocol and closed the speech with his resignation. Then, Gen. Aldo Giannatiempo, ITAF (Ret.), chapter secretary, briefed the audience about the procedures and announced a change to the process; this year, all the candidates have a chance to shortly introduce themselves and present their programs and points of view. As a result of the elections, validated by a commission expressly appointed by the assembly, the chairmanship is unchanged and Gen. Finocchio was re-elected president by acclamation along with the two vice presidents: professor Marina Ruggieri, Rome University of Tor Vergata, and Claudio Buccini, Finmeccanica, respectively as university and industry representatives. Beside them, Raffaele Esposito, Selex-Elsag, maintained his position as honorary president. The board of directors includes Gen. Giannatiempo, secretary; Andrea Brancaleoni; Angelo Cappellanti; Antonio Gammarota; Carlo Cal; Carlo Falessi; Carlo Guglielmini; Donatella Dominici; Fiorella Lamberti; Adm. Lucio Accardo, ITN (Ret.); Gen. Maurizio Leoni, IA; Mario Nardi; Michele Luglio; Paolo Bellofiore; and Sergio Vicari. The Technical and Scientific Committee includes Eugenia Finocchiaro, Leandro Aglieri, Mario de Lucia, Mauro Cigarini and Paolo Proietti. The election of the new board was celebrated the next evening with a dinner sponsored by the chapter.
