Luncheon Covers Information Management

Brig. Gen. Scott A. Bethel, USAF (Ret.), former vice commander of the Air Force Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Agency (AFISRA) at Lackland Air Force Base, addressed the chapter at its August luncheon event. Gen. Bethel discussed the future of cyber and ISR including changes, challenges and opportunities. This includes information management challenges like how to move data that is growing exponentially and store it for later access. While technology continues to advance alongside financial limitations, the question of whether or not to outsource information management is a common source of friction. Clearly, our future is with youth tech, said Gen. Bethel. Threats now come asymmetrically as countries fight for economy, and organizations must continually find ways to collaborate in order to effectively disseminate data. The United States needs to make its existing architectures work in new ways, identify the significance of data storage and mining, and develop analysis, tools, people and small business.
