Chapter Supports TechNet Land Forces East

In August, the Central Maryland and Aberdeen chapters recently teamed up to support AFCEA International's first annual TechNet Land Forces East Conference held at the Baltimore Convention Center. The chapter kicked off the event with a golf outing at the Woodlands Golf Course. It also hosted lunch on opening day, featuring guest speakers Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D-MD) and Col. Christopher Ballard, USA, and the presentation of a $25,000 science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) endowment check to the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. The Aberdeen Chapter hosted lunch the following day and the Young AFCEANs networked at the Pratt Street Ale House. The chapters thanked the more than 40 volunteers who supported the conference. Jennifer Kauffman, chapter president, stated, “We were proud to assist AFCEA International. The conference demonstrated the importance of cybersecurity to our national defense and very way of life. It also highlighted a key goal of our chapter: to enable the intelligence missions of today and tomorrow through STEM education and investment in talented people.”
