In October, the chapter recognized several award winners. First, the chapter honored Steve Costolo as the SuperNOVA of the Month. Costolo serves as a federal account manager supporting the defense and intelligence communities for Gigamon, an information technology company providing traffic visibility and networking solutions that support cybersecurity, continuous monitoring and situational awareness missions. Costolo has been active with the chapter since 2009. He has been a contributor across the chapter, supporting the IT Days and monthly luncheon events as the technology/presentation lead. In addition, he has supported the Luncheon Sponsorship Committee and has successfully secured follow-on renewals with the chapter's corporate partners and table sponsors. Securing corporate sponsors enables the chapter to deliver a high-value program of events and maximize contributions to its scholarship program.
Additionally, the chapter recognized Steven Yates as the Young AFCEAN of the Month for October. Yates works in business development for AboutWeb, a leading provider of information technology solutions that delivers customized technical solutions and Web applications. His company specializes in tailoring Adobe software solutions as well as Drupal web development. AboutWeb is a registered small business and has experience as a prime and subcontractor providing direct support to federal and state government offices and agencies. Yates has volunteered with the chapter since 2010, serving in a variety of volunteer roles, including co-lead for the past two years for Air Force IT Days. He also has held leadership roles in Warfighter IT Day as well as Navy IT Day. In addition, he has participated in and supported the chapter's Mentor/Protégé Dinner.
