NORTH CAROLINA CHAPTER CHAPTER - Nov 14, 2012

Symposium Covers Technology Challenges

The chapter kicked off its inaugural Symposium and Exposition with a dynamic “Golfing with the Pros” tournament. The main event was held in November at the Holiday Inn Fayetteville-Bordeaux and Convention Center in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The theme for this year's event was "Leveraging Technology for Today's Fight.” The major exposition features consisted of a cross-section of information technology exhibitors ranging across the entire spectrum of hardware, software, telecommunications, Web-based e-commerce and support services vendors. A cast of panelists and speakers providing information, views and solutions for today's technology challenges supported their displays. As government budget cuts continue and demands to meet mission requirements increase, the need to maximize the cost effectiveness and intelligently leverage technology is imperative, speakers noted. The chapter exceeded its goals as new and innovative ideas where demonstrated and best practices were presented as solutions to the technology challenges faced by the military. The exposition proved very beneficial to government and military attendees. Many visitors commented that the exhibits provided real solutions to existing government needs and requirements. Business-to-business opportunities also abounded on the floor. Companies described how they benefited directly from their physical presence amid other information technology expertise and deemed the audience as among the best. The event's feedback from within and outside the AFCEA community puts the chapter way ahead and is being used to jump start next year's event.
