In December, the chapter hosted its holiday mixer at the Offutt Air Force Base Patriot Club. The chapter also presented $1,000 science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) grants to bolster programs in area schools. Grant recipients included James McDermott, Holy Name Elementary School, Omaha, Nebraska (6th to 8th grade science); Tara Petersen, Mary Our Queen Catholic School, Omaha (6th grade math and science, VEX Robotics coach and assistant principal); Linda Sweeting, St. Mary's School, Bellevue, Nebraska (7th to 8th grade science); Mary Jo Holdcroft, St. Matthews Catholic School, Bellevue (6th to 8th grade science and math); Janis Elliot, Bellevue West High School, Bellevue (conceptual, honors physics and AP physics, and dual enrollment educator UNO); and Tamara Vering, Guardian Angels High School, West Point, Nebraska (9th to 12th earth science, physical science, nutrition, chemistry and physics). |
