In December, the chapter's Young AFCEANs welcomed Essye Miller, a member of the Senior Executive Service and director, headquarters Air Force Information Management, Office of the Administrative Assistant to the Secretary of the Air Force, to speak at the final Business Over Breakfast event of the year. Straying from the traditional, one-directional speech, Miller chose to actively engage audience members in a group discussion. Attendees were receptive to this personable approach, which directly reinforced the central points of discussion: success as a result of fostering relationships, balancing effective communication in the workplace and personal flexibility. Miller stated maintaining an open-minded approach serves a dual-purpose: creating self-awareness as well as alleviating potential opportunities for success by restricting efforts to what fits ones comfort zone: essentially career kryptonite. The Young AFCEANs thanked Miller for sharing her thoughts and ideas, and they look forward to another successful year of Business Over Breakfast events. |
