PEO Outlines Cost-Saving Measures
In February, the chapter hosted a luncheon at Wynlakes Country Club featuring guest speaker Robert Carl Shofner, program executive officer (PEO) for Business and Enterprise Systems (BES), Maxwell Air Force Base-Gunter Annex, Alabama. Shofner shared his ideas on the future of PEO BES. After a brief overview of the organization's seven basic functional areas, Shofner provided a breakdown of proven cost-cutting strategies to save valuable funds across the US Air Force. After his presentation, Shofner joined Dr. Joe Besselman, chapter president, in recognizing two chapter members for their contributions to AFCEA. First, Kameke Mitchell received the Emerging Leader Award for her dedication and support to the Young AFCEANs of Montgomery. Next, Master Sgt. Neil Stewart, USAF, was recognized for his recent Distinguished Young AFCEAN Award. At the conclusion of the luncheon, many members of the audience interacted directly with Shofner to discuss emerging opportunities at PEO BES.
