Speaker on Information Sharing

Katerina Oskarsson, a doctoral candidate in international studies at Old Dominion University, and employed as an economic development and governance/rule of law desk officer at NATO Civil-Military Fusion Centre (CFC), in Norfolk, Virginia, spoke at the chapterís June luncheon. The CFC is a knowledge management institution established in 2008 to facilitate the sharing of information between civilian and military actors working on complex crises to enhance their situational awareness. The CFC has focused on Afghanistan. However, introduction of teams have also focused on the Horn of Africa, and north and northeast Africa, including Libya, the broader Mediterranean Basin, including Syria, and the Middle East. Oslarsson delivered a thought-provoking briefing based on the CFC Thematic entitled, Prospect for a Crisis in Post-2014 Afghanistan. Her presentation provided a snapshot of expertsí views on possible scenarios that may unfold in Afghanistan after 2014. It also presents a brief overview of factors poised to shape the trajectory of the ongoing transition and potential for a crisis in Afghanistan post-2014.
