Chapter Hosts Summer Social

The chapter held its annual summer social in August at the Doubletree Bedford Glen Hotel, Bedford, Massachusetts. Nino Amoroso welcomed all attendees and introduced the honored guests: Medal of Honor recipient Capt. Thomas Hudner, USN (Ret.), and Lt. Gen. John Dubia, USA (Ret.), executive vice president, AFCEA International. Shannon Sullivan, regional vice president, introduced new chapter president, Bud Vazquez, presenting him with his presidentís pin and congratulating him on winning this yearís AFCEA International Meritorious Service Award. Vazquez then acknowledged Scott Hardiman, outgoing president, for his dedicated service to the chapter, highlighting the myriad chapter achievements, scholarships awarded and international awards received under Hardimanís leadership. Gen. Dubia joined Vazquez to present Medal of Merit awards to Jeff Katz and Irene Biddy. Gen. Dubia also presented the ROTC Maj. Gen. Eugene C. Renzi, USA (Ret.), Memorial Scholarship (co-sponsored by Value Enterprise Solutions Incorporated) to Midshipman Zachary Ryan Sacher, Navy ROTC, from Boston University. Karen Leavitt from CSC joined Gen. Dubai in presenting the AFCEA/CSC Defense STEM Major Graduate Scholarship to Capt. Todd Myers, USAF, who is receiving his Master of Science in engineering and management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The Medal of Honor Scholarship (co-sponsored by the AFCEA International Educational Foundation and the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation) was presented (in absentia) to Cadet Max David Ramundo, ROTC, from MIT by Capt. Hudner. Vazquez concluded with a special tribute to Gen. Dubia recognizing his stalwart service to AFCEA and the chapter.
