BELVOIR CHAPTER CHAPTER - Oct 08, 2013

A Sweet Start to the School Year

Teachers are special. They are the mentors and cheerleaders of our future leaders. In an effort to help teachers at Fort Belvoir Elementary kick off the school year with a smile, the chapter donated $50 gift cards to 100 teachers at the school in October. Fort Belvoir School is one of the largest elementary schools within Fairfax County Public Schools and the Washington metropolitan area, serving approximately 1,200 students from pre-K through grade six. Designated as a Model Tech School, the school has a STEM Lab, Science Center and a STEM resource teacher providing inquiry-based hands-on lessons to all students. Science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) programming is enhanced through relationships with business partners and professionals who continue to support teachers in making connections to STEM careers. The chapter is proud to partner with Fort Belvoir Elementary School. This $5,000 donation to put a smile on everyone's faces and reaffirmed the chapter's mission and dedication to supporting educational activities in its community.
