General on Understanding Cybersecurity

The chapter held its October luncheon at Martins Crosswinds in Greenbelt, Maryland. Sherri Ramsey with CyberPoint was the small business speaker who spoke to her companyís innovative and leading edge solutions and services concerning cybersecurity. Not only do they put their research into their products, but they also have a commitment to the community. Continuing on the topic of cybersecurity, the government speaker, Maj. Gen. Jennifer Napper, USA, chief of J-5, U.S. Cyber Command, led with the need to have collaboration between the people who understand the bad guys and the people who secure the network. Defensible architecture needs to be in place to lock down the information that needs to be protected. Since cyberthreat has become one of the most serious economic and national security challenges facing the United States, she emphasized the need for more youth awareness and involvement in information assurance via universities and Cybersecurity Awareness Month. The chapter also announced the winners of the Presidents Cup, including the Flight A Winner & Presidents Cup: SAIC; Flight B Winner: Wavestrike; Flight C Winner: Primes Solutions; Flight D Winner: GANTECH; Federal Flight E Winner: Clarity Business Solution; and Flight F Winner: Miles and Strikebridge. Allison Eyre from Eyre Bus also received a coin for providing transportation for the Cycle for STEM scholarship fundraiser for AFCEA International.
