Company Leaders on IT Services

In October, Tim Erickson, AIM community and satellite director, Omaha, Nebraska, and Mr. Erick Whigham, AIM information technology (IT) manager, talked with the chapter about AIM and the services they provide to area businesses. Erickson gave an overview on how AIM came into being—through the work AIM did to establish how significant IT would be come, they formulated the basis of the service AIM provides. To not only build the IT pipeline but to connect people with careers, retain IT talent within Nebraska and offer training and career development opportunities for those within the field. Whigham elaborated on supplying the IT pipeline. They needed to develop early student interest and tie that interest to skills within IT. He associated this to the tenets of motivating students, initiating an introduction to IT and activating students who already have an interest. In parting, they said the process of building IT communities is not just the posting of jobs; it also entails addressing generational groups and the different philosophies between them.

In addition, the chapter recognized Christy Carpino, president, Multi-Option Systems Incorporated (MOSI. MOSI is the first chapter program sponsor to receive the distinction of winning the Carpino Collaborative Team Excellence Award. The award recognizes the program sponsor that best demonstrates volunteerism, participation, initiative and citizenship in support of the chapter. The award bears the namesake of Carpino because of her company’s long-standing contributions in support of the chapter since the inception of the program sponsor program. Carpino was on hand at the luncheon for the commemorative awarding of this distinction.
