Macon County Receives Chapter Initiative Grant

In November, the chapterís Education Foundation awarded a Chapter Initiative Grant valued at $21,205.40 to the Macon County Public School District to fund classroom upgrades in the form of 2nd generation 16GB iPads for student and teacher use and 2 SMART Boards equipped with overhead projectors to enhance science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) driven learning. Accepting the award on behalf of Macon County were Dr. Melvin Lowe, education coordinator and workforce development administrator for the Career and Technical Education Center; Dr. Jacqueline Brooks, superintendent, Macon County Public Schools; Christopher Clark, an instructor at the Career and Technical Center; and members of the Macon County School Board. Charisse Stokes, director, chapter Education Foundation, presented the donation to the School Board and noted the impressive successes Macon County students are achieving. The Chapter looks forward to the continued growth of Macon Countyís STEM-related programs and success stories from their students.
