ROTC Scholarship Awards Luncheon Held

Maj. Kate Stowe, USAF, presided as master of ceremonies over the annual ROTC scholarship luncheon held in April at the Bedford Doubletree Hotel, Bedford, Massachusetts, jointly hosted by the chapter and the Association of Old Crows (AOC) Patriots Roost Chapter. This signature event recognized 42 of the most outstanding AFCEA and AOC ROTC cadets and midshipmen from across northern New England with $1,000 scholarships. Honorable Dr. Sheila Widnall, former secretary of the air force, addressed the cadets with an inspirational discussion about career choices and leadership. Col. Scott Owens, USAF, chapter vice president for ROTC affairs, presented $21,000 in scholarships to the chapterís recipients. Dr. Widnall joined Bud Vasquez, chapter president, in presenting the General Bernard Schriever Award, which carries an additional $1,000 scholarship, to the top cadet amongst the group: Cadet Nathaniel Holtgrewe, Norwich University. A total of $44,000 in scholarships was presented including AOC grants. Chapter ROTC Award Winners included: Cadet Corey Pray, Boston University, Air Force; Midshipman Andrew P. Bates, Boston University, Navy; Cadet Jacob Dufault, Boston University, Army; Midshipman Gary Feldman, College of the Holy Cross, Navy; Cadet Alyssa Pybus, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Army; Cadet Morgan Voss, MIT, Air Force; Cadet Jonathan Edward Moll, Northeastern University, Army; Cadet Nathaniel Holtgrewe, Norwich University, Air Force; Midshipman Ryan Sutherland, Norwich University, Navy; Cadet William Tremblay, University of Massachusetts (UMASS)-Amherst, Air Force; Cadet Timothy Knoess, UMASS-Amherst, Army; Cadet Jacob Nappi, UMASS-Lowell, Air Force; Cadet Andrew Gallagher, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Army; Cadet George Abbiati, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Air Force; Cadet Ashley Anderson, University of Maine, Army; Midshipman Sebastian Saldivar, MIT, Navy; Cadet Chad Luce, Norwich University, Army; Cadet Connor P. Monahan, University of New Hampshire, Air Force; Cadet Nicholas J. Morgida, University of New Hampshire, Army; Midshipman Adam Neubert, Marine Maritime Academy, Navy; and Cadet Patrick Foley, University of Vermont, Army.
