Lexington-Concord Hosts Guest Speaker

The chapter hosted a breakfast at the Double Tree Bedford Glenn Hotel, Bedford, Massachusetts, on May 2. Bud Vazquez, chapter president, welcomed participants and introduced featured guest speaker Richard Lombardi, principal deputy assistant secretary of the Air Force for acquisition. Lombardi provided an update on the Air Force budget to attendees, noting that the service is facing tough choices. It must absorb billions in reductions by seeking efficiencies, eliminating redundant capabilities and cutting overhead while balancing capability, capacity and readiness. Facing an uncertain future, Lombardi emphasized that initial requirements and strategy will determine program success or failure so it will be even more critical for the Department of Defense and industry to continue to communicate openly and often.
