Young AFCEANs Visit Radar Tower in Berlin

For the first time, the chapter's Young AFCEANs hosted an event in Berlin in August. They visited one of the Bundeswehr tactical air command and control service units at Tempelhof Airport. Jochen Reinhardt, vice president of the chapter Young AFCEANs, was very pleased to see so many new faces: "I am glad to extend our network to Berlin and to get such a positive resonance." Twelve Young AFCEANs met exactly at the place where British and U.S. candy bombers touched ground during the airlift in the Cold War. Today, the German Air Force monitors the airspace and maintains the radar tower. After that, the participants ascended the radar tower. At a height of more than 50 meters, the Young AFCEANs had a magnificent view of Berlin. The event ended with a social gathering. After this success, the planning for the next Berlin event in 2015 has already started.
