Navy Officials Discuss Cybersecurity Challenges

The chapter sponsored a luncheon in October at the Ritz-Carlton, Pentagon City in Arlington, Virginia, where a panel of Navy leaders discussed information dominance and cybersecurity challenges. The panel also discussed the Navy's collaborative approach (fleet, resource sponsor, acquisition) to address these challenges. The chapter's monthly luncheon series draws between 350 to 400 senior officers and information technology professionals from across the Department of Defense, armed services, intelligence and civilian agencies to discuss topics of interest to the government information technology community, ranging from information technology networks to mobility to cybersecurity to UAS/sensors. Speakers included Kevin Cooley, executive director and command information officer, Navy Fleet Cyber Command; Victor Gavin, program executive officer, Enterprise Information Systems (PEO EIS), Department of the Navy; and Troy Johnson, director of capability integration (N2/N6FX) and Task Force Cyber Awakening (TFCA) Task Group 3 Navy Cyber Security Lead.
