Navigating the Government Procurement Process

The chapter's Small Business Committee sponsored a panel discussion with government leaders educating attendees on navigating the complexities of the federal procurement process. "Behind the Curtain: How Program, Procurement and Acquisitions Affect Contracts" was held in January at Bloomberg Government in Washington, D.C. The government panelists advised small businesses to stay ahead of an agency's RFP, to submit strong RFP proposals with graphics and to use a small business advocate.

The seminar was held to educate small business leaders on small business set asides, program requests and acquisition details.

Panelists included: Kathleen Gregory, procurement analyst and small business specialist, Acquisition Policy and Oversight, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Department of Homeland Security; Roberta Richardson, small business specialist, Defense Intelligence Agency, Department of Defense; Mitchell Ross, director of the Acquisition and Grants Office, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Department of Commerce; and Col. Scott Svabek, acting procurement director, Defense Health Agency, Department of Defense.
