Chapter Grants Support Local STEM Education

The chapter, with its educational grants, supports the same innovative spirit that built this nation. At the chapter's August luncheon, four local teachers each received $1,000 science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) grants, and the Harnett County FIRST Robotics Team received a $1,000 grant. Lydia Gutierrez, a member of the robotics team, demonstrated its award-winning robot for chapter members. Gutierrez is entering Campbell University this fall as an engineering student, an excellent example of women in STEM. In addition, members were challenged to provide additional financial and technical assistance to these teachers and volunteer to serve as mentors to the robotics team.
