Single Board Computer

Military and aerospace systems require small, powerful computers that can operate in harsh environments. The CC279 is a conduction-cooled, dual-processor, rugged single board computer (SBC). It is powered by two Quad-Core Xeon processors operating at up to 1.6 gigahertz or by two Dual-Core Xeon processors operating at up to 2.33 gigahertz. The SBC supports as many as eight processors on a single slot board and draws only 100 watts of power.

A Server Class 5000 series controller chip that features two side buses operating at 1,333 mega transfers per second provides memory for the CC279. Each of the two 8-gigabyte, 144-bit error correcting code memory banks functions independently of the other at 10.6 gigabytes per second, providing a memory transfer rate of 21.6 gigabytes per second.

Heat is dissipated by a conduction cooling system consisting of a hybrid plate design using heat pipes and a copper/aluminum frame. A rolled edge allows greater heat transfer to be dissipated through the pipes rather than the frame. A mezzanine card on the special application module interface provides basic graphics. Standard input/output functions include Quad GigE Ethernet ports with a transmission control protocol/Internet protocol offloading engine, six universal serial buses (version 2.0), one Com port with RS-232/422, six serial advanced technology attachment-2 ports with redundant array of independent disks support, and one parallel advanced technology attachment port.

Authentication Software

Network security is a prime concern for information technology administrators and managers. SafeWord 2008 is the latest version of the SafeWord two-factor authentication software. Software tokens provide secure and cost-effective two-factor authentication, protecting access to critical information assets via Citrix applications, virtual private networks, Web applications and Outlook Web access.

The software is designed to operate in the latest 64-bit Windows environments, including Vista and Windows 2008 server, with seamless integration to Microsoft Active Directory. SafeWord 2008 also provides an Enterprise Solution Pack, an add-on module that includes the SecureWire Access Gateway and other applications to improve productivity, security and compliance. The SecureWire Access Gateway is a zero-footprint single socket layer virtual private network designed to allow firms to make applications, data and network connectivity available to employees, contractors, business partners and customers.

High-Strength, Lightweight Composite

Composites are a key material for all types of modern equipment, from sporting goods to military kits. The X Series of thermoset composites is designed for use in sheet molding compound applications. The material is designed to be impact and fire resistant with minimal cracking on impact.

Impact strength for the X Series ranges from 40 foot- pounds per inch to 60 foot-pounds per inch. Flexural strength is 40,000 to 60,000 pounds per square inch (PSI), and tensile strength is 25,000 to 35,000 PSI. Glass content varies from 20 percent to 60 percent, depending on strength requirements and cost restrictions.

The material can be molded into a variety of shapes from helmets to truck beds. The X Series also can be pigmented or painted in high-gloss colors.

Text and Media Mining Suite

Quick access to intelligence is important for both commercial and government organizations operating in a rapidly changing international environment. The Inspector suite of text and media mining software allows users to translate or recover voice and data.

Inspector:Listen transcribes and translates audio. It operates in very noisy environments where distractions exist, such as radio intercepts, speech being played over loudspeakers or conversations in public areas such as streets that contain intense background noise. The software combines multiple speech recognition engines into an automated application to provide continuous recognition for clean audio and reliable keyword identification.

Inspector:Monitor extends the capabilities of Listen to provide an around-the-clock tool that automatically monitors and transcribes radio broadcasts and communications. It maintains a complete data record to permit rapid identification and recall of key information.

Inspector:Restore automatically restores and translates degraded documents. Multiple filters remove items such as crumples, tears, stains, smudge marks and handwritten notations. The software allows analysts to examine even severely degraded documents.

Inspector:Analyze is the interface for the Inspector suite. It enables users to examine data to identify information of interest. Analyze allows the correlation of multiple disparate data sets. It can correlate the contents of a conversation with text contained in an image or document. This analysis can be performed directly in a native language or in translated output.
