The AFCEA Educational Foundation is offering competitive based scholarships of $2,500 each to students actively pursuing a graduate degree or credential/licensure for the purpose of teaching science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) subjects at a U.S. school in grades K-12. The scholarships are made possible by generous contributions from ManTech International and AFCEA International. 

 

To be eligible, students must be U.S. citizens and living in the United States. Graduate candidates must be attending an accredited U.S. college or university (online students are eligible) and majoring in education for the purpose of teaching STEM subjects in a U.S. school in grades K-12.  

Graduate-level candidates must be currently taking at least two semester-equivalent classes at an accredited U.S. college or university at the time of application. Current credential and licensure students must have completed a bachelor’s of science degree or graduate degree in a STEM major.  Undergraduate students are ineligible to apply. 

MG Eugene C. Renzi, USA (Ret.) STEM Teachers Scholarship  

One STEM Teacher scholarship of $2,500 will be awarded annually to honor the memory of Maj. Gen. Eugene C. Renzi, USA (Ret.). This scholarship is made possible in part by a generous endowment from ManTech International. The recipient will be selected from the STEM teacher applicants.

 

Eligibility 

  • Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
  • Graduate-level candidates must currently be in at least their second semester and taking at least two (2) semester-equivalent courses per term at accredited college or university in the United States and majoring in education for the purpose of teaching STEM subjects in a U.S. school in grades K-12 at the time of application.  
  • A current overall GPA of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale in their current program at an accredited U.S. college or university is required at the time of application. Applicants must have completed a B.S. degree in a STEM major.
  • Undergraduate students are ineligible to apply. 
  • Credential/licensure candidates must be U.S. citizens with a completed B.S. degree or graduate degree in a STEM major (undergrad/grad transcript required). Must be currently enrolled and have started the program at the time of application.
  • *Scholarship awards are subject to availability of funding. Scholarship awards are restricted to tuition and course-related expenses, such as fees, books, supplies and equipment that are required for the courses at the university.

  • In addition to basic information, there are several short-answer questions.

In addition to the online application, other required documents include: 

 

  • Current Official Transcript: with completed courses and grades including grades from the Fall 2023 semester. Submit electronically through school to edfoundation@afcea.org. If electronic submission of your transcript is not possible, please send official document to the AFCEA address listed below to arrive by the deadline date.  
  • Two Letters of Recommendation: from faculty in the major of study. Have your references submit their letters of recommendation in pdf form via email to edfoundation@afcea.org.
  • Undergraduate Transcript: either official or unofficial emailed to edfoundation@afcea.org. 

 

  • Current résumé: emailed as pdf to edfoundation@afcea.org.

 

  • If currently employed as a teacher: one additional letter of recommendation from your school principal.
