Q; In the BML ran into a few ambiguities: finding different data models. Are you recommending an authoritative data model or where do you suggest getting to ground truth? A: There is a national data strategy, the Net Centric Enterprise Services drive the rest - there are debates should there be five or one or a aggregation. Not much agreement across the services for this. Q; Are you familiar with UCORE and where that might fit in? A: In general terms. Maybe make a suggestion
Q: Response UCORE is working n coming up with a elemental registrry of who, why when - simialr to the exchange packages - acknowledged that they need specialized vocabs and ontologies . Possible at UCORE.GOV
A: Looked at enough to get a sense- it is an xml basis. In the book we go into detail why that is not enough. We all know we need some form of standard .. we are finding that the meaning in the real world is not truly advocating three levels for understanding synoptic symantic meaning of the message then prgramatic which is the ultimate goal - does it get interpreted properly. Staying with xml itself is not
Q: in light of the previous discussion that VML is fairly Army Centric - any thoughts to other services and or agencies approaches. A:They will be looking at several which will include VML

Overview of Navy Challenges to getting to a netcentric approach- Referenced number of systems being forced to migrate, standards. Page 7 is a build slide that works from Legacy systems (upper right) found data components needing to be trasnported between systems. the NCALs SW created the path to the GIG - the four boxes on the bottom demonstrate the completely ocnfigurable interface to ensure that it is trasnparent to a number of other systems.
Challenges are listed on Page 8 A number of questions were asked
