Keynote Address Gen Victor E. Renuart, Jr., USAF (Confirmed) Commander NORAD and U.S. Northern Command
-NORAD’s core mission is to ensure safety across America -The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) is a bi-national United States and Canadian organization charged with the missions of aerospace warning and aerospace control for North America - Two commands: NORAD and NORTHCOM -Supports federal partners and state partners across the US during national disasters, natural disasters -NORTHCOM has a role to make sure people are supported when disasters strikes – using primarily airborne search and rescue capability (aerospace control) -Have a coalition of partners across federal, state and international agencies – must effectively communicate in order to ensure the safe airspace across America and Canada -Information Sharing is a function of both technology and people agreeing to share the necessary information in any given mission -Coalition partners with all 50 states, 52 different federal agencies work with each of them in order to support their unique requirements or needs -DHS & FEMA are major partner agencies with NORAD -Cyber defense is a major initiative – working with DOD -Cyber warfare not just a DOD or government issue it’s a global one -Need to be able to defend networks and access -Not about equipment it’s about the desire to change the coalition of partners and their willingness to communicate in order to facilitate the sharing of information -How can you place a risk assessment tool into the process of information sharing?
