AFCEA SOLUTIONS: Cyberspace, 10-11 December 2008
Emerging Network Warfare Inter-Dependency of Cyber Security How to Harness The Cyber Future Cyber Operations and Irregular Warfare

How is war in cyber space different than conventional warfare? This track will approach this question from 3 perspectives. The standard doctrine of traditional warfare has a cyber warfare component utilized when sovereign nations execute war. There also exists a transnational base who coalesces around economic interests and this group of non-state actors controls a significant part of critical infrastructure. Additionally, there is a transnational (irregular) base of non-state threats; groups/individuals who pose a threat to state and non-state entities. The new paradigm of military, civilian govt. and industry will result in a hybrid approach to network warfare. A conflict that begins with a transnational entity could rely on resolution through a state-based means.

Recognizing that we are "ALL" on the front lines. This track will address the importance of cyber security at all levels of government and the private sector.

What are the commercial trends and future technology innovations? What is the international influence on the future of Cyber? What is the future cyber workforce?

AFCEA SOLUTIONS: Information Assurance, 9-10 Sept 2008
Assured Information Access Network Resilience for Mission Assurance Risk Management Enabling a US Government Cyber Workforce

The effects of Globalization, Network Convergence, and an increasingly net-centric information environment are our strategic advantages as well as our achilles heel. We share risks and vulnerabilities, and benefits between the Government and Private sector, how will we collaborate on protecting and defending this vital resource?

How to move from a reactive risk adverse culture to a risk managed Net Centric environment?

How do we improve capability of the current USG cyber security workforce to effectively defend our nation in cyberspace? How do we strengthen the cyber security workforce pipeline for the future? How do we extend cyber awareness and literacy to other disciplines beyond Information Security/Information Technology?

AFCEA SOLUTIONS: Identity Assurance, 26-27 June 2008
Authentication Protection Federation Next Gen Identity

Authentication is any process by which you verify that someone is who they claim they are. The wide variety of authentication schemes makes it difficult to share identity data across systems, reliably authenticate devices and once authenticated in any system, determine what access the user is permitted. Solving these issues across multiple security, technology and geographic domains is key to effective identity management.

Protecting data and access to data through the use of Biometrics. Discussing the strategic vision of the future of biometrics and identity management: How are Biometrics contributing to Protection?

Single Identity used for DoD, Federal and Commercial Transactions. The Federal government is not in the business of providing credentials to everyone with whom it does business, but it does need to trust those same people. To enable physical or logical access control, the ability to verify the identity of someone through a trusted identity management provider is essential. Federation is a powerful tool that may be used to meet this need, but there are still many questions that must be answered. In this track, the technical and cultural challenges of accomplishing Federation will be discussed by the experts, both inside and outside of Government. They will provide ideas and case studies that explain how to maximize the use of Federation and how to embrace and use the tools available today.

The future of Identity and Identity Management. How important is the protection of Identity to the next Generation? In a world fused with texting, My Space, and Facebook, what sociological changes are we facing when there is a fine line between reality and a second identity? How will this perspective on identity implicate government efforts in securing information? What is the future of IdM Technologies? How effective are current efforts at protecting the future of individual identities and access privileges? How important is identity protection to our future national security with the advent of potential Cyber threat? The tracks within the Next Generation Identity Track Sessions will provide thought provoking insight into these questions by promoting a dialogue around these potential conflicting issues - their effect on our society and National defense, both from a personal, sociological and national perspective.
