Brenda M. Dougherty Diversity Program Award
This is awarded to the chapter which has most significantly contributed to the inclusion, contribution, leadership and professional development of under-represented AFCEANs, women, enlisted personnel, young people and other minorities, by providing a forum of programs and initiatives geared to their unique needs. Winning chapters, which compete against other chapters in the same size category, are selected by the AFCEA International Awards Committee.
The Brenda M. Dougherty Diversity Program Award nominations will be graded on the following:
Stated awareness and acknowledgement at the chapter president and officer level that increasing the diversity of the chapter is important
Creation of a Task Force or Committee within the chapter, reporting to the chapter's board of directors or executive board, to focus on and address specific and unique needs of minority groups
Specific and targeted programs and events sponsored by the chapter which are intended to be interesting and beneficial to under-represented AFCEANs, women and other minorities
Programs which spotlight professional contributions of all minorities
Chapter level award or recognition program that recognizes individual or group contribution to increasing diversity in the chapter
Metrics highlighting membership positive growth statistics among the diverse members of the community
Chapter must have been chartered for a full year prior to the evaluation period
Chapter must have a minimum of 25 members
Chapter must have submitted its Annual Report to HQ for the prior year
Nomination must be endorsed by the chapter's Regional Vice President (RVP)
Nomination must include a description of chapter activities contributing to the unique needs of diverse audiences as highlighted above
