The guest speaker for our meeting on 4th November
will be Andy Watkin-Child, Director ¿ The Security
Institute. The title for Andy¿s talk will be
¿How does the UK and European Defence Industrial
Base (DIB) address Federal and US DoD cyber
regulatory requirements to deliver adequate cyber
security?¿ Addressing the needs, objectives and
goals of the June 2021 Atlantic Charter.
The presentation will bring out the changing US
cyber environment, that has developed
significantly since Cyber Security Maturity Model
Certification (CMMC) was placed on hold ahead of a
congressional hearing next month. It will
highlight the recent developments in US cyber
legislation and its potential impact. Andy will
speak about the CMMC and existing Defence Federal
Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS)
compliance, Federal Information Security
Modernization Act (FISMA), the DoJ¿s recent
announcement about prosecution under the False
Claims Act (FCA), recent Treasury updates
associated with ransomware payments and the need
for a close working relationship with the US and
partners on cyber standards development.
