Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) engineers have embarked on a new miniature version of the AgilePod in an effort to increase the platform’s intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities, according to an AFRL announcement.
BAE Systems Spectral Solutions LLC, Honolulu, Hawaii, is being awarded a $9,515,068 cost reimbursement contract for the soil-penetrating airborne reconnaissance for threat assessment and neutralization. BAE Systems Spectral Solutions LLC, shall design, build and demonstrate an airborne prototype to detect buried mines/improvised explosive device from an altitude of up to 2000 feet. The total cumulative value of this contract is $12,515,068 if all options are exercised. Work will be the performed in Honolulu, Hawaii, and work is expected to be completed June 21, 2018. If all options are exercised, work will continue through December 28, 2020.
The Boeing Co., Seattle, is being awarded a $19,631,293 cost-plus-fixed-fee, ceiling-priced, letter requirements contract (N00383-16-D-015F) for the repair coverage of 193 various mission system components on the P-8A aircraft. The company also is being awarded a similar $14,505,917 contract (N00383-16-D-016F) for the repair coverage of 204 commercial components and a $9,290,393 contract (N00383-16-D-014F) for the repair coverage of 24 various mission system components used on the aircraft. Each contract includes a one-year base period and two 12-month optional periods, which if exercised are: $72,520,840, $59,263,365 and $31,256,390.

Work will be performed in Poway, with an estimated completion date of April 2, 2017. Fiscal 2016 other procurement funds in the amount of $9,486,872 were obligated at the time of the award. Boeing Company, S&IS Mission Systems, Springfield, Virginia, is being awarded a $14 million contract to continue sustainment of the Combat Track II (CTII) airborne intelligence platform sustainment and support systems, which include deployments worldwide conducting site surveys; installations and integration; assembly and test; operator and maintainer training; software/hardware modifications; system integration and retrofits; and system performance assessments. Boeing will also equip CTII units with a programmable Sierra II chip. The Electronic Systems Center, Hanscom Air Force Base, Massachusetts, is the contracting activity.
