Rockwell Collins Incorporated, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has been awarded a $20,022,313 modification (P00017) to FA8807-12-C-0013 for software coding and security on the military Global Positioning System (GPS) user equipment contract. The total cumulative face value of the contract is $50,916,525. The contract modification is to mature the software coding of the GPS receiver cards being developed and perform security certification to enable faster fielding of M-code capable GPS receivers to the warfighter. The Space and Missile Systems Center Contracting Directorate, El Segundo, California, is the contracting activity.

Northrop Grumman Guidance and Electronics Company Inc., Woodland Hills, Calif., has been awarded a $200 million indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to perform acquisition and sustainment for the Embedded Global Positioning System Inertial Navigation System (EGI). The acquisition and sustainment will consist of platform integration, modernization, diminishing manufacturing sources, flight test support, technical support following integration efforts, training, engineering support/studies, contractor depot repair, spares, and data for the standard EGI.

The U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) has signed a Co-operative Research & Development Agreement (CRADA) with Locata Corporation, Canberra, Australia, to build and demonstrate new Locata technology for use in GPS receivers. The CRADA is specifically directed to evaluate Locata’s patented Vray switching antenna and new correlator technologies for multipath mitigation in position receivers that run at GPS frequencies. AFIT will first design and build a GPS-frequency multi-element switching antenna prototype that is based on Locata Vray patents.
