Beyond the Checklist: Tracking Sense-Making and Decision-Making in Military Training

The Mixed Reality Lab at the USC Institute for Creative Technologies has developed a system to capture, access and integrate audio and video streams, radio and intercom traffic, images of trainees, interaction device events, eye-tracking data, head movement, and even physiological measures. By correlating and indexing this wealth of data, the system can potentially adapt scenarios to their current skill levels. The ability to capture and analyze fine-grain performance data allows scientists and decision makers to run experiments and synthetically prototype new capabilities or tactics.
