As presented here, “IW” is utterly misleading. Not to mention as recently as Dec 2017, DoD considers ‘IW’ to be ‘irregular warfare’ . Information warfare is the use and management of info and commo technology for competitive advantage over an opponent. Here it seems the Army only considers the latter aspect of managing digital info, and that's entirely alarming. The Russians understand the broader info warfare concept and employ it regularly. Why is it so hard for the Army and DoD to understand it? Technology alone won't give the U.S. a competitive edge in info warfare, but that isn’t stopping us from thinking so.
