Elbit is Supplying Software Defined Radio Capability to Spain

Haifa, Israel- based Elbit Systems Ltd. will supply their E-LynXTM Software Defined Radio (SDR) solution for the combat battalion level of the Spanish Army. The new radio network for the battalion level is a first step in the Spanish combat radio network modernization program, the compnay reported. Elbit will provide hundreds of handheld E-LynX SDR systems for dismounted soldiers and vehicles that will be installed onboard a range of combat platforms. Elbit will perform the work in cooperation with the Spanish telecommunications firm Telefonica, S.A. over a period of six-months.
To select the contract awardee, the Spanish Ministry of Defense conducted competitive technical and field evaluations, including a close examination of the capability to implement future waveforms and to comply with strict security standards and anti-jamming requirements. According to Elbit, the selected E-LynX SDR solution for the Spanish Army is similar to capabilities recently selected by Switzerland, Sweden and Israel for their respective army-wide mobile network modernization programs.
