Modern Technology Solutions Inc. (MTSI), Alexandria, Virginia, has been awarded a cost-plus-fixed-fee contract in the amount of $11,141,208 under the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase-III program. Under this SBIR Phase III effort, MTSI will mature the technologies developed in the previous Phase I and III contracts, which relate to the acquisition and fusion of data for space situational assessments.

A new capability will give the U.S. military crucial situational awareness in a domain that is growing in importance—space. The so-called Space Fence will detect closely located objects, breakups, maneuvers, launches and conjunction assessments all the way from low Earth orbit through geosynchronous Earth orbit, reported an official from Los Angeles Air Force Base, California on December 10.

Applied Defense Solutions Inc., Columbia, Maryland, has been awarded a $7,526,650 fixed-price and cost-reimbursement modification (P00015) to contract FA255017C8002 for non-governmental space situational awareness services.  This modification provides for the exercise of an option for an additional quantity of 12 months of services under the basic contract.  Work will be performed at Schriever Air Force Base, Colorado, and is expected to be completed by October 18, 2019. No funds are being obligated at the time of award. Total cumulative face value of the contract is $26,458,756. The 50th Contracting Squadron, Schriever Air Force Base, Colorado, is the contracting activity. (Awarded October 4, 2018).

CACI Inc. - Federal, Chantilly, Virginia; and Rome, New York, has been awarded a $9,709,489 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract for Cavalieri software. This contract provides for systems engineering, software development, integration, demonstration, prototyping, documentation, and testing and systems administration to deliver software tools for Space Situational Awareness and Space Battle Management Command and Control. Work will be performed in Rome, New York, and is expected to be complete by September 25, 2021. This award is the result of a competitive acquisition and two offers were received. Air Force Research Laboratory, Rome, New York, is the contracting activity (FA8750-18-C-0180).
