Subscribe for Cybersecurity Education
AFCEA International is partnering with Carnegie Mellon University’s (CMU’s) Software Engineering Institute (SEI) to offer its members a comprehensive range of online cybersecurity training on an annual subscription basis. For the cost of a single five-day classroom course, AFCEA members who subscribe have unlimited access to more than 30 classes for one year. In addition, group discounts are available using the AFCEA Educational Foundation voucher program.
CMU SEI’s CERT Simulation, Training and Exercise Platform (STEPfwd) combines research and technology to develop cybersecurity work force skills. Practitioners and their teams build knowledge, skills and experience in a continuous cycle of professional development through on-demand lectures, hands-on labs, private learning communities and progress reporting for trainees. Within the new platform, community managers can oversee the training program for their organization and create community forums to enable their students to collaborate.
Many of the courses offered through STEPfwd prepare students for key cybersecurity certifications in support of DoD 8570.01-M requirements. Course categories include certification self-study content, specialized content topics and CERT content that comprise subsets of CERT classroom training. New offerings for 2013 focus on insider threats, information security risk assessment using the OCTAVE approach, software assurance and forensic malware analysis.
