The agreement is part of a multi-reseller/multi-software publisher software category management award for commercial-off-the-shelf software; information technology asset management software; software maintenance support; information technology professional services; and related services in support of DoD ESI and under the direction of Office of Management and Budget, Enterprise Software Category.

Whether a Social Security number from an individual, or financial information from a company, hackers continue to find ways to steal data from millions of Americans. To combat these crimes, the idea of active cyber defense has arisen on Capitol Hill with the introduction of the Active Cyber Defense Certainty (ACDC) Act.

In January, Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen voiced measured support for empowering companies to be more active in their approach to cybersecurity. These active measures would allow companies to access other computer networks in order to thwart cyber attacks, monitor the hackers, collect evidence or destroy stolen files.

The results of the Federal Information Technology Acquisition Reform Act (FITARA) scorecard, released by the Government Accountability Office in June, revealed many agencies continue to face challenges. For the first time since Congress began composing the biannual scorecard, more agency grades declined than improved.

Five agencies dropped a full letter grade, including the Departments of Defense, Interior and Labor; the Office of Personnel Management; and the Social Security Administration.

DLT Solutions, Herndon, Virginia, has announced it has been awarded a five-year blanket purchase agreement with the Department of the Navy to provide Red Hat software and services. The $133,404,000 agreement includes a one-year base ordering period with four one-year optional ordering periods through December 2021. An enterprise license agreement also entitles the Navy to Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat Enterprise Linux Add-ons and Red Hat Enterprise Linux management and provisioning tools, such as Red Hat Satellite.

Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, Maxwell Air Force Base-Gunter Annex, Ala., is the contracting activity.
