L3/Harris Technologies, Clifton, New Jersey, is awarded a $51,852,571 cost-plus-fixed-fee order (N0001920F0394) against a previously issued basic ordering agreement (N00019-16-G-0003). This order procures modifications to the AN/ALQ-214A(V)4 Integrated Defensive Electronic Countermeasures System. This order provides non-recurring engineering to develop, integrate, test and deliver software and firmware as well as all technical data. In addition, this order provides engineering and technical support for test efforts including correction of deficiencies discovered during testing in support of a Foreign Military Sales (FMS) customer. L3 Electronic Devices Inc., Williamsport, Pennsylvania, is awarded a $33,082,096 five-year, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract with both firm-fixed-priced and cost-plus-fixed-fee line items for the production, repair and engineering services of the Aegis Cross Field Amplifiers. The Cross Field Amplifiers are microwave tubes installed in the AN/SPY-1 radar system used on board the DDG51 Class AEGIS destroyers and CG 52 Class AEGIS cruisers.  The AN/SPY-1 radar is an air/surface search and tracking system and is used for ballistic missile defense requirements. Work will be performed in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, and is expected to be complete by August 2024.

DOD reported that L3 Technologies Inc., doing business as L3 KEO, Northampton, Massachusetts, was awarded a $14,110,638 firm-fixed-price modification to previously awarded contract for MK 20 MOD 1 Electro-Optical Sensor Systems, radar cross section kits, shock ring kits, engineering support services, and spares for both the Navy and Coast Guard. The MK 20 Electro-Optical Sensor System is a major component of the MK 34 Gun Weapon Systems employed by the DDG 51 class, CG 47 class and the Coast Guard’s offshore patrol centers.

Harris Corporation and L3 Technologies have agreed to combine, creating the 6th largest U.S. defense contractor, to be called L3 Harris Technologies, Inc. The companies held a joint conference call on October 15 to announce the details of the merger. The company will have approximately 48,000 employees and be headquartered in Melbourne, Florida. Harris and L3 cited “complementary businesses with a shared culture of innovation and operational excellence to accelerate growth and improve margins,” as a reason for the merger.
