London-based UKCloud signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Crown Commercial Service to continue to deliver multi-cloud services to public sector organizations in the United Kingdom. The MOU will ensure that public sector organizations continue to have the benefit of choice and options of multi-cloud platforms alongside the more proprietary options available from the global cloud providers, the company stated in a release. The agreement also signals renewed support for the government’s Crown Campus, a secure datacenter operated as a joint venture between Ark Data Centers and the U.K. government.
The U.K. Defense and Security Accelerator recently awarded a contract to Polystream, an intelligence-backed, deep-techology startup, according to a June 16 release. Under the triple figure contract, Polystream, based in Guilford in the United Kingdom, will develop a prototype deployable plug and play synthetic training technology. Thales and AMST are working together to deliver a new high G-force training service for fast-jet pilots under a £44 million contract ($63,065,327). The service, being developed at RAF Cranwell, will improve pilot safety and offer a cost-effective training solution. As prime contractor, Thales will provide the design, build and operation of the training service, which is set to open in 2018. MBDA has received a contract worth over £300 million ($465 million) from the United Kingdom’s Ministry of Defence (MoD) that ensures the Royal Air Force remains equipped with the infrared guided air-to-air missile, ASRAAM. The contract covers the supply of new missiles to refresh the existing inventory. The missiles will be produced at MBDA’s new Bolton manufacturing and assembly site that will be commissioned in mid-2016.
