Carlsbad, California-based Viasat upgraded the North Atlantic Treaty Organization's (NATO) ultra high frequency (UHF) satellite communications (SATCOM) control stations to comply with the new integrated waveform baseline. The upgrade will provide NATO with improved interoperability, scalability and flexibility across legacy and next-generation platforms, according to the company.

Carlsbad, California-based Viasat Inc. announced on May 21 that the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) had awarded the company a five-year, sole-source indefinite delivery indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract for rapid migration of command, control, communications, computers and cyber (C5AD) capabilities. The IDIQ, which has a maximum ceiling of $450 million, was structured by GSA to meet the immediate needs of the Department of Defense (DoD) in mobile networking, cybersecurity and broadband satellite communications technology sectors.

ViaSat Inc., Carlsbad, California, was awarded a non-competitive, firm-fixed-price contract to provide senior leaders and their support staff with Ku-band and Ka-band communications utilizing ViaSat subscription service while travelling via aircraft. The face value of this action is $55,687,458 funded by fiscal year 2018 and 2019 operations and maintenance funding. The total cumulative face value of the contract is $559,850,730. Performance will be primarily in California and Colorado.  Proposals were solicited via electronic means and one proposal was received.

ViaSat Inc., Carlsbad, California, was issued a modification to exercise option one for the period of June 1, 2017 to Nov. 30, 2017. This non-competitive firm-fixed price contract modification is to provide senior leaders and their support staff with Ku-band and Ka-band communications utilizing ViaSat subscription service while travelling via aircraft. The face value of this action is $19,277,009 funded by fiscal 2017 operations and maintenance funding. The total cumulative face value of the contract is $73,217,722. Performance will be primarily at ViaSat’s networks operation center and government care centers.

Raytheon Co. Space and Airborne Systems, Marlborough, Massachusetts, has been awarded a $39,951,691 cost-plus-incentive-fee contract (FA8808-16-C-0006) for protected tactical service field demonstration (PTSFD). PTSFD will demonstrate the ability to provide wideband anti-jam communications to tactical users using the Wideband Global Satellite Communications (SATCOM) constellation and commercial SATCOM. Work will be performed in Marlborough, Massachusetts, and is expected to be completed by September 30, 2020.

Data Link Solutions LLC, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, is being awarded a $124,326,550 modification under a previously awarded multiple award contract (N00039-10-D-0031) increasing the scope authorized to perform all of the necessary design and development work required to bring Tactical Targeting Network Technology (TTNT) capability to the Multifunctional Information Distribution System (MIDS) Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS) terminal and to achieve a successful critical design review. ViaSat Inc., Carlsbad, California, is being awarded a $72,673,450 modification under a previously awarded multiple award contract (N00039-10-D-0032).

Data Link Solutions LLC, Cedar Rapids, Iowa (N00039-10-D-0031) and ViaSat Inc., Carlsbad, California (N00039-10-D-0032), are being awarded a combined $116,750,000 modification to a previously awarded multiple award contract to exercise options for systems engineering and integration for the Multifunctional Information Distribution System (MIDS) Low Volume Terminal (LVT) and the MIDS Joint Tactical Radio Systems (JTRS) terminal. The MIDS-LVT provides secure, high-capacity, jam-resistant, digital data and voice communications capability for Navy, Air Force and Army platforms.
