Afghanistan and Iraq War Veterans Scholarship (Afghanistan & Iraq)Pre-Requisite

Merit-based scholarships to undergraduate students of varying amounts will be awarded to persons on active duty in the uniformed military services, to honorably discharged U.S. military veterans (including Reservists and National Guard personnel), who are currently enrolled and attending classes part-time or full-time in an eligible degree program at an accredited four-year college or university in the U.S. who served in Iraq/Afghanistan.

Eligible candidates attending a four-year college or university must be at least enrolled as sophomores or juniors. Freshmen and Seniors are not eligible to apply.

All candidates must provide a copy of Certificate of Service, Discharge Form DD214, copy of latest performance review or other verification of service. (Please black out your Social Security Number when submitting.) All forms submitted must show your service in Afghanistan/Iraq.

Distance-learning or online programs affiliated with a major U.S. institution are eligible.

Are you majoring in a C4I-related field or the following fields of Biometry/Biometrics, Computer Engineering, Computer Forensics Science, Computer Programming, Computer Science, Computer Systems, Cybersecurity, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Geospatial Science, Information Science, Information Technology, Information Resource Management, Intelligence, Mathematics, Network Engineering, Network Security, Operations Research, Physics, Robotics Engineering, Robotics Technology, Statistics, Strategic Intelligence, or Telecommunications Engineering

AFCEA Educational Foundation scholarships can be used to assist with tuition, mandatory fees, lab fees and books only.

    Before you proceed, please prepare for the following:
     
       
     
    NOTE: ALL SUPPORTING MATERIALS (ESPECIALLY TRANSCRIPTS) MUST BE AS CURRENT AS POSSIBLE.  
       
     
    1. Names and email addresses for at least two letters of recommendation:
    • At least one letter should be from a faculty member in your chosen major having personal knowledge of your degree program, achievements and potential.
    • One letter can be from your current employer or relevant current public service agency.
    NOTE: Instructions on electronic submissions will be provided via email to endorsers once application has been submitted.
     
       
     
    2. Transcripts showing all college-level study and courses currently in progress MUST BE RECEIVED BY THE DEADLINE DATE of November 15, 2017.

    NOTE: Transcripts must be issued by the Registrar's office - electronic submissions preferred to edfoundation@afcea.org. If an electronic transcript is not possible, please mail to the address listed below to arrive by the deadline.
     
       
     
    3. Copy of current Certificate of Service, or Discharge Form DD214 must be provided and shows service in Iraq and Afghanistan. Please blackout your Social Security Number before submitting.
       
     
    4. Letters of recommendation, transcripts and additional materials must be received by the deadline of November 15, 2017.

    NOTE: Electronic submission of all required materials, including transcripts, is preferred. Save your confirmation email as there is a link to check to see what has been received.
