Enduring Freedom Afghanistan and Iraq Freedom War Veterans (2003-Present) Scholarship (Undergraduate) Spring Pre- Requisite

Merit-based scholarships of $2,500 will be awarded to persons on active duty in the uniformed military services, to honorably discharged U.S. military veterans (including Reservists and National Guard personnel), who are actively pursuing (currently enrolled and attending classes) an undergraduate degree part-time or full-time at an accredited 4-year college or university in the U.S. who served in Enduring Freedom-Afghanistan and/ or Iraqi Freedom Combat Operations (2003-Present).

Freshmen and Senior level students are not eligible to apply. A current overall GPA of 3.0 or higher is required.

Veterans who meet the above criteria or who have been disabled because of active-duty combat wounds received from either serving in Enduring Freedom-Afghanistan and/or Iraqi Freedom Combat Operations (2003-Present) will be considered for this scholarship.

All candidates must provide a copy of Certificate of Service, Discharge Form DD214, copy of latest performance review or other verification of service. (Please black out your Social Security Number when submitting.) Documents must show your service in Enduring Freedom Afghanistan and Iraq Freedom.

Distance-learning or online programs affiliated with a major U.S. institution are eligible.

Candidates must be majoring in a C4I-related field or the following fields: Biometry/Biometrics, Computer Engineering, Computer Forensics Science, Computer Programming, Computer Science, Computer Systems, Cybersecurity, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Geospatial Science, Information Science, Information Technology, Information Resource Management, Intelligence, Mathematics, Network Engineering, Network Security, Operations Research, Physics, Robotics Engineering, Robotics Technology, Statistics, Strategic Intelligence, or Telecommunications Engineering

AFCEA Educational Foundation scholarship funding is restricted to tuition and course-related expenses, such as fees, books, supplies and equipment that are required for the courses at the university. All award checks are written to the university or college to be deposited into student's account.

Before you proceed, please prepare the following:

 
   
 
ALL SUPPORTING MATERIALS (ESPECIALLY TRANSCRIPTS) MUST BE AS CURRENT AS POSSIBLE  
   
 
1. Names and email addresses for at least two letters of recommendation:
  • At least one letter should be from a faculty member in your chosen major having personal knowledge of your degree program, achievements and potential.
  • One letter can be from your current employer or relevant current public service agency.
Instructions on electronic submissions will be provided via email to endorsers once application has been submitted.
   
 
2. Transcripts showing all college-level study and courses currently in progress
Transcripts must be issued by the Registrar's office - electronic submissions preferred to edfoundation@afcea.org. If an electronic transcript is not possible, please mail to the address listed below to arrive by the deadline.
   
 
3. Copy of current Certificate of Service, or Discharge Form DD214 showing service in the Middle East in support of one or more Overseas Contingency Operations.
Make sure to black out your Social Security Number before submitting.
   
 
Letters of recommendation, transcripts and additional materials must be received by the deadline of April 10, 2020.

Electronic submission of all required materials, including transcripts, is preferred. Save your confirmation email as there is a link to check to see what has been received.
