High School Dominates Robotics Competition

The chapter sponsors Wetumpka High School, which took first place out of 50 schools at the South's BEST Robotics Competition in October. Virginia Vilardi led the winning team. Wetumpka is also one of the schools where the chapter sent the teachers to Carnegie Mellon University's Robotics Summer Training for Teachers. Awards received included: 1st Place Overall – BEST; 3rd Place Robot; 1st Place Notebook; 1st Place Team Exhibit Design and Construction; 2nd Place Marketing Presentation; 2nd Place Spirit and Sportsmanship; 3rd Place Team Exhibit and Interview; 3rd Place Founders Award for Robot Design; and 3rd Place Most Photogenic Robot.
