Teleport Tour

The Stuttgart Chapter recently sponsored a professional development staff ride to Raisting, Germany. Raisting is located in Bavaria about an hour's drive from Munich. A U.S. firm, Emerging Markets Communications (EMC), purchased this satellite communications facility from Deutsche Telekom. Raisting is one of the three largest teleport facilities in the world and also is the host to Germany's major national and international fiber backbone ring. More than 40 participants attended the tour, which included members of the Stuttgart Chapter of AFCEA and other communications personnel from the Stuttgart community.
