HAWAII CHAPTER CHAPTER - Mar 11, 2014

Commander on Pacific Security

In March, the chapter welcomed Adm. Harry B. Harris, USN, commander, United States Pacific Fleet (PACFLT), who spoke on the U.S. rebalance to the Pacific and Asia-Pacific security. A highly decorated naval officer, Adm. Harris assumed command of the PACFLT in October 2013. He stressed the importance of a forward presence and readiness for all outcomes from a position of strength. The chapter's Senior Government Leader of the Month was Capt. Dave Carson, USN, commander, National Security Agency/Central Security Service Hawaii. The Senior Government Leader for February was Dr. Kathleen Berg, director, Curriculum Research and Development Group, University of Hawaii. The AFCEAN of the Month was Maj. David A. Young, USAF, Infrastructure and Mission Systems Branch chief, headquarters U.S. Pacific Air Forces (PACAF), Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. Master Sgt. Joseph Ippolito, USAF, noncommissioned officer in charge of the PACAF Cyber Fusion Center, was recognized as the Young AFCEAN of the Month. The chapter shares its congratulations and immense gratitude to its awardees for all they do in service of others.
