MONTGOMERY CHAPTER CHAPTER - Mar 10, 2015

Air Force Leader Prioritizes Business Information Technology Projects

In March, the chapter held its monthly luncheon, welcoming guest speaker Timothy Nixon, director, Business Sustainment Systems Division, Air Force Program Executive Office Business Enterprise Systems, Life Cycle Management Center, Air Force Materiel Command, Maxwell Air Force Base, Gunter Annex, Alabama. Nixon outlined priorities for the division's mission success, including deploying an enterprise-resource planning application for Air Force civil engineers under the NexGen program; enabling integration across portfolio programs to enhance program execution; and developing an application modernization road map. He also highlighted a recent success story: the Deliberate Crisis Action Planning and Execution Segment (DCAPES) program. Despite significant personnel reductions, DCAPES continues to successfully execute this critical Acquisition Category 1 program. Finally, he outlined plans to make Gunter Annex the information technology center of the South by pulling together all local entities of government, educational institutions, industry and more. Nixon believes this approach offers the Air Force an opportunity to generate new and innovative solutions. The luncheon also served as an opportunity to formally install the chapter's elected officers for 2015: Eric Sloan, president; Master Sgt. Neil Stewart, USAF, vice president; Kameke Mitchell, Young AFCEAN Advisory Council president; Candace Akerson, secretary; Cheryl Brown, treasurer; and Charisse Stokes, director, Education Foundation. The chapter thanks Nixon for sharing his ideas and goals for future success for his division and extends thanks to the Wynlakes Country Club in Montgomery, Alabama, for hosting the luncheon. The chapter also congratulates the newly installed team of officersand looks forward to a new year under their dedicated leadership.
